I think that many people all have this experience that losing your umbrella in public place like school,library or restaurant. I usually lose my umbrella in library because someone takes it away.
So, I do some different on my umbrella like sticking some pasters or writing down my name on it to avoid other people misunderstand my umbrella is hers.
However, these two ways can’t work very well,I still lose them.I think that it is dishonest that taking stranger’s umbrella away on rainy day. I would rather get wet in the rain than use others’umbrella, because I will never built any convenient thing on others' pain.

Well, in the UK that umbrella system would *never* work: you just have to keep your wet umbrella with you. It is a pleasant surprise for most westerners that people generally don't take other people's things. Still, of course, it sometimes happens, as your experience shows.
